Hey Troops,

Amazing effort so far this week!  From the data that was collected, we are well ahead of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in terms of total kilometers rucked.  From the beginning of the week until 07 1200 Apr 21, we clocked 1,006 kms collectively, the Lincoln and Welland Regiment were at 685 kms.  At noon today, we hit 1,380 kms!   I briefed the CO, and here are his comments:

Highlanders -
Excellent work so far!  Well done.  This is the DILEAS Spirit that we keep talking about.  However, we’re not done yet; the Lincoln and Welland are a competitive Unit and won't let us win without a fight.   I encourage you to keep on rucking.  We are better than halfway through, but there are still three days left.  Lace up the boots, strap on your ruck, and let’s go.
DILEAS
CO

Let's keep the tempo high and maintain the initiative in order to force them to match our battle rhythm. With a bit more effort on your part, we will win this competition.  Keep those rucks on, and boots laced up, we're nearly there!

Pte/ Sdt Katz

I grew up in housing projects my whole life so I always had the stereotype where it would be assumed I wouldn’t go anywhere but down wrong paths. This inspired me to always try to make myself the best person I can possibly be. I always wanted to be someone where I can prove that yes, I lived in bad neighborhoods but I was still able to make something of myself.

My inspiration to join the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) was, that on my dad’s side, there’s multiple generations that are former/current military – but all in the US. The experiences I’ve had in my little over a year in the CAF were beyond amazing. I grew brotherhoods with my course mates on Basic Training.

My Course Officer and Course Warrant have both helped me when I didn’t believe in myself and showed me that my limits are just imaginary boundaries I set for myself. I’m Private Recruit Katz with the 48th Highlanders and I’m beyond proud to wear this uniform!

🌟

As we continue our efforts to overcome this global pandemic and look forward to better days following vaccination, I invite all to ponder the meaning of the Easter message in their own lives. I wish and pray that all @canadianforces members and their loved ones may come to experience renewed life in the days and weeks to come. Happy Easter to all!

-Padre Michel DJ Dion, Division Chaplain, 4 Canadian Division Headquarters
